Design Systems
A design system is the most valuable long-term investment a growing startup can make in its product. At EM&J, every UI/UX engagement produces a design system as an output, not a side effect.
We build design systems in Figma using variables and auto-layout to be fully responsive, accessible, and documented for developers. The system includes colour tokens, typographic scales, spacing rules, component libraries (buttons, forms, cards, navigation), and interaction states.
For teams with a React codebase, we translate Figma tokens into CSS custom properties or a Storybook component library, bridging the gap between design and dev from the start. The result: faster iteration, fewer design inconsistencies, and a product that looks cohesive at scale.

Do you do UI design only, or UX as well?
Both. At EM&J, UI and UX are inseparable. We don't design screens without understanding user flows first. Every visual decision is backed by a UX rationale.
Will I get a Figma file I can own?
Yes. You get full ownership of the Figma file, including all components, styles, and the design system library. We also walk you through it in a recorded handoff session.
Can you design for both web and mobile?
Yes. We design responsive web and native mobile (iOS/Android) interfaces. We use device-specific Figma frames and account for platform-specific UI patterns.
Do you work with our existing brand?
Absolutely. If you have an existing brand, we work within it. If your brand needs to evolve, we can tackle that as part of the engagement, or separately with our Brand Identity service.
